Headlines

Originally I used photographs of a shredded New York Times as field images in my collages. Quickly discovering that each tiny bit of newspaper carried enough information to ignite one's imagination, I began to see them as documents, messages, or time stamps. They began during the 2020 presidential primaries, then into the pandemic, social unrest protests, and will continue through whatever is next. Trepidation, apprehension, panic, anger, angst; somehow all these things are extremely visual.

The Headlines are collages, built from either 290 gsm mouldmade papers, or Japanese Asuka kozo papers. Most of the series is built at 44" x 30".
